the year's drawing to a close and i haven't really had much to say about that. it's been an interesting year for me, but i'm hoping it's not the pinnacle - there are a few more things i want to get done in the next twelve months. so next year could be even better... fingers crossed.
i had a great time at meredith but didn't end up seeing half the bands i wanted to because i spent a lot of time chilling out at the camp site. i actually listened to the avalanches dj set from my tent, drifting back and forth between sleep and awake. maybe i'll have to go to the carpark festival to see them properly.
just in case i don;t post again for the rest of the year, have a great chistmas and a fun & safe new years eve - and enjoy 2006, it's the only one we'll get.

one more thing -
i'd like to send out a bunch of 'get well soon' vibes to my all-time favourite bollywood legend, amitabh bachchan. i found out on friday that he's in hospital recovering from surgery, and since have read reports of the massive effect his hospitalisation has had on the general public of india. it's no exaggeration - i remember when he was hospitalised after being injured on the set of his film coolie in 1983, there was mass hysteria. i hope this time around he's getting some space, and that he's out of hospital and recuperating at home soon.
get well soon, mr bachchan. xox

let's start this post with a cliche - the year's flown by, hasn't it? i can't believe it's december already. christmas shopping not started as yet obviously, but i do have a fair idea what i'll be buying, which is a vast improvement on christmases past. the one thing i am looking forward to before the season of too much food and much-much merriness is the meredith music festival. we're going with a bunch of mates, about 20 of us in all, and i cannot wait. i just hope it doesn't rain this year... last year we missed the worst of it because we only went up for the sat/sun component, and it rained and hailed and thundered down on friday. this year we're up for the whole three-day extravaganza, and i am really looking forward to it rain hail or shine (fingers crossed for nothing but shine nonetheless). there are a few bands i am dying to check out - wolfmother, the avalanches dj show, clare bowditch and the feeding set, the bollywood spectacular on friday night, cut copy, king marong and safara... also looking forward to stumbling around at the crack of dawn looking for the chai vendors, and taking a picture from the top of the meredith eye. one thong i have learned though is to take up a lot of water to drink. i didn't plan very well last year and ended up sleeping in the car because i was too lazy early on to get my shit together.
tonight i watched that 'my favourite movie' special on sbs. why didn;t lost in translation makle the top ten? i love that film. oh well, i should have voted. predictably, lord of the rings took top spot, with amelie coming in at number 2. the shawshank redemption was in there too, which was surprising. i guess results to polls like that will always be a littl bit weird - the only way to make them make any sense would be to make voting compulsory... but having said that, i now realise that wouldn't necessarily mean that the results would make any sense. hmmm.
