after searching high and low for a while now, we've finally found a place to call our own - that's right, we've bought a house. we settle in mid june and i cannot wait to move in, though i will miss having mum and dad around. there's a spare room for them though, so i'm hoping they'll come visit us often. we're moving back to the area of town we were in beofre we left on our big o/s trip, i.e. inner west. i have been training myself for so long not to get excited about places i found on the internet, or that we went to inspect, so it's taken me quite a while to actually get used to the idea that this place is ours now. we sign our lives away tomorrow, and i'm actually rather looking forward to it...
the only thing about it that irks me somewhat is that the carpet is blue - a dark shade - and i'm a little confused as to what i can do with it, decor and furniture colour-wise. feel free to leave me tips!

so, so, SO excited! today my 90210 season 2 dvd's arrived in the mail. i will have to sort out a time when i can lock myself away and have a marathon... though it'll take a while if i watch them all back-to-back. there are 8 discs.
i bought season 2 in toronto and watched bits of it all over the world. it's funny, you forget just how cheesy something is when you haven't seen it in ten years, and just remember the good bits... sounds like the crushes i used to have that i still sometimes think fondly about. but having said that, i am still looking forward to watching season 2.
it's weird with the current obsession people have with the paris hiltons and nicole ritchies - essentially, the characters in 90210 were the brat-pack of their time, and the lives they portrayed were the 'laguna beach's and 'the hill's of their time. it's funny, when we were in LA we made friends with this girl in a bar, who was trying to get away from this guy who was cracking on to her. she was from seattle, but he was a local - he said he lived in 'the hills'. i was so curious to find out whether he was telling the truth by asking him if we could all go back to have a drink at his place just to see if he was all he cracked himself up to be. but of course i didn't - we ended up ignoring him cause he was freaking our new friend out, and then he left. we had a great time, though. where was i? o right, 90210. the dvd's here - woohoo! and yes, i hope paris goes to jail. i read in a little headline somewhere today that she was taking karate classes. smart move, paris. smart move.

memories, huh? great things. last night i fell asleep with a smile on my face remembering our wanderings in venice and amsterdam. mark was looking through one of our still remaining bags-o-crap from the trip and he came across some pamphlets from the van gogh museum in amsterdam... i loved it there. it was rainy but gorgeous, and afterward in venice the colour of the water in the canals made me think that rembrandt had been washing his paint brushes in there. anywa, last night before bed i made myself some fresh mint tea, just like i had in amsterdam one time. on this particular day all the shops were closed and mark and i were starving and narky, wandering around looking for a place to eat. we went into what looked like a pub and it was like entering a twlilight zone - it was packed full of older people all getting ready for a darts tournament. they all stared at us as we stumbled in out of the rain, we stared at the prize table, laden with electrical appliances that looked like they belonged in a kitchen, but what they actually did we had no idea. the people then tried to communicate with us, inviting us in to sit and eat sausages, but smiling and shaking our heads through the clouds of cigarette smoke, we politely declined and kept going. we finally found a place to sit and eat, and i ordered fresh mint tea and it came in a glass teapot, all amber and sweet-smelling, with a sprig of fresh mint curled inside. no mint tea bag can make tea that tastes as good...

hope you all had a hoppy easter. i know, i know. maybe living in such close proximity with my father has affected my sense of humour... nah, i always thought dad jokes were funny.
good friday was good indeed, we went and saw the lemonheads at the corner hotel in richmond, and did they go off or what! i was standing behind a mad fan who spent the whole set head bangin'. evan dando actually got him to get up on stage and sing 'mrs robinson' because he yelled for them to play it once, and the poor kid was shaking like a leaf when he was climbing down off the stage. you couldn't hear a word he was singing though, the band played v. loud. anyway, after that i decided not to yell out a request for 'frank mills' lest he make me go up on stage and sing that, because i always lose my way after the 'he lives in brooklyn somewhere, and he wears a white crash helmet' bit. anyhoo. he didn't end up singing frank mills, but when he came back out for the encore he did a lovely acoustic medley of some classics - being around, favourite t etc. it was a great gig. they'd played there the night before and apparently evan did not talk to the crowd much, but on friday he was almost chatty. nice. what else did we do? went for a bike ride with the family, went and looked at some houses, had some family time. all in all, great weekend. but i am glad it's over cause that means ugly betty and brothers and sisters will be back on the tv... what a loser, right? haha!

i'm here, i'm here - just been a tad busy. my writer blog is where all the action is lately, so go there first before you come here - www.iwriter.blogspot.com.

tv obsessions - i'm still lovin' kate ceberano on dancing with the stars, and house (the tv show) is quite gripping, too. bought a copy of 'little manhattan' on dvd but yet to watch it - have a feeling will need boxes of tissues, and loads of chocolate - i'll need consoling seeing manhattan again. am very excited about 'becoming jane' finally being in the theatres, and will see it with my mum, i think. now ccannot wait for the release of 'the namesake' movie. other news - mark and i are making tentative steps on the 'let's get a mortgage' road and it's scaring me silly. ack!
