memories, huh? great things. last night i fell asleep with a smile on my face remembering our wanderings in venice and amsterdam. mark was looking through one of our still remaining bags-o-crap from the trip and he came across some pamphlets from the van gogh museum in amsterdam... i loved it there. it was rainy but gorgeous, and afterward in venice the colour of the water in the canals made me think that rembrandt had been washing his paint brushes in there. anywa, last night before bed i made myself some fresh mint tea, just like i had in amsterdam one time. on this particular day all the shops were closed and mark and i were starving and narky, wandering around looking for a place to eat. we went into what looked like a pub and it was like entering a twlilight zone - it was packed full of older people all getting ready for a darts tournament. they all stared at us as we stumbled in out of the rain, we stared at the prize table, laden with electrical appliances that looked like they belonged in a kitchen, but what they actually did we had no idea. the people then tried to communicate with us, inviting us in to sit and eat sausages, but smiling and shaking our heads through the clouds of cigarette smoke, we politely declined and kept going. we finally found a place to sit and eat, and i ordered fresh mint tea and it came in a glass teapot, all amber and sweet-smelling, with a sprig of fresh mint curled inside. no mint tea bag can make tea that tastes as good...

hope you all had a hoppy easter. i know, i know. maybe living in such close proximity with my father has affected my sense of humour... nah, i always thought dad jokes were funny.
good friday was good indeed, we went and saw the lemonheads at the corner hotel in richmond, and did they go off or what! i was standing behind a mad fan who spent the whole set head bangin'. evan dando actually got him to get up on stage and sing 'mrs robinson' because he yelled for them to play it once, and the poor kid was shaking like a leaf when he was climbing down off the stage. you couldn't hear a word he was singing though, the band played v. loud. anyway, after that i decided not to yell out a request for 'frank mills' lest he make me go up on stage and sing that, because i always lose my way after the 'he lives in brooklyn somewhere, and he wears a white crash helmet' bit. anyhoo. he didn't end up singing frank mills, but when he came back out for the encore he did a lovely acoustic medley of some classics - being around, favourite t etc. it was a great gig. they'd played there the night before and apparently evan did not talk to the crowd much, but on friday he was almost chatty. nice. what else did we do? went for a bike ride with the family, went and looked at some houses, had some family time. all in all, great weekend. but i am glad it's over cause that means ugly betty and brothers and sisters will be back on the tv... what a loser, right? haha!
