tv. yes. i am so impressed with channel seven this year - it's gone from being the awkward youngster in braces and mary-janes, and has blossomed into a self-assured hottie, a-la anne hathaway in the princess diaries. i hardly used to watch it - apart from the family guy and american dad when i should have been sleeping, and better homes and gardens on the friday nights i wasn't out having a life - but there's so much goodness happening there at the moment. ugly betty. brothers and sisters. starveillance. and... dancing with the stars, if only for the amazing kate ceberano. how good? seriously - how. good. waiting for her to dance even makes me less annoyed with the stupid bridging song they sing when they're coming back from the ads ('dancing with the stars - dance, dance, dance'. very creative). in an ideal world, the guy from home and away would be bumped next, followed by the girl who used to be on neighbours. then everyone else, one by one, till kate and jean-paul are left rocking out to wolfmother or something equally as loud. now, that.
that would make it perfect.

itchy feet. already! man. just last night as i was falling asleep i was thinking to myself, 'can you actually believe that you've been to all these places??' we spent a lot of time flying so i think that kinda kept the mind occupied. next time (i know - i'm jobless (still) and dreaming of my next trip already...) i'd like to to go away to less places for longer. anyhoo... all the pics (well, not all the pics - a specially selected some of the millions we took, more like) have been uploaded, so now you may see bits of london and south africa. follow the annoying scrolling texty thing on top of the book cover in the yellow box over thataway >>>
and if anyone wants to give me a part time job, feel free. (nothing suss but).

ah yes, we're back and back to reality. mark returned to work early this week and i am in the throes of job-hunting (doesn't that sound like fun?). we squeezed in one last bit of travel before coming right back down though - last weekend we were in sydney - i had a speaking gig there on saturday which ended up going very well, thanks! - so we stretched out our visit from friday to monday. we got to catch up with some old friends, which is always nice. it rained cats and dogs all day sunday though - it was like being in melbourne! on monday mark and i went to china town and had some yum-cha - one of life's great pleasures i think. nothing like a smattering of taro cakes, steamed buns, assorted delectable crispy things and a finish of mango pudding to put you right, rain or shine. the more i go to sydney the more it appeals to me, to the extent that this time i though 'hmm, i wouldn't mind living here.' cockroaches nonwithstanding.
anyway. all is well here, we're settled at my parent's place at the moment and contemplating our next move. will no doubt keep you posted though i feel that my scribblings here will most likely dwindle as i get back into writing what i hope will be my second novel. for updates on the writing life, check out my other blog at http://iwriter.blogspot.com.
