i am so peeved that i missed the first episode of life isn't all ha ha hee hee on sbs last week. i was so excited to hear that it was finally being shown here, and i forgot to tape it. what a doofus... i guess i'll just have to buy it on dvd now, how sad. yeah right, i was probably going to do that anyway, so let's stop pretending, shall we? fine. i also want to buy bhaji on the beach on dvd - i used to have it on video tape but i have lost it along the way somewhere. jb at highpoint used to have one copy but i guess someone bought it and i haven't seen another there since. i watched a dvd on the weekend called being cyrus, and i can't make up my mind whether i liked it or not... no such internal tussle after having seen a play called 'headlock' at the malthouse last week - it was absolutely amazing. see it if you can - it's on till june 3. you won't regret it!

i noticed a sudden spike in the traffic to this site the other day. initially i just attributed it to all the comedoans self-googling after the festival, but then i realised it was somoething else - the national library of australia has asked if they can add this site to their pandora archives so it may be made available online in perpetuity. so there you have it - hopefully this will be of use to someone some day, and hopefully i won't live to regret making myself a website. anyhoo. i have been a it slack about updating with reviews of the other shows i saw - which didn;t end up being all that many extra in the end. we saw justin heazlewood and josh earl's 'renegades of folk', which was very excellent - check out justin's site for tour details at the bedroom philosopher. i had their songs stuck in my head for ages afterward... brilliant boys the two of them. we also checked out janelle koenig and vanessa bennett in 'call girls' which was a well executed play which really struck chords with the audience - great show all up. and finally went to check out nellie and friends at comedy zone, which was brill as usual.
i think it might be time for me to dust off the notebook and re-enter the world of comedy - i think i might wait till i get back from fiji. we're going over in june, and will be doing some publicity for the book, some meeting and getting to know other weritery types there, some catching up with the fam and some good old layin' like a lizard under a palm tree somewhere. i was a little apprehensive about the whole book promo thing but i am now looking forward to the challenge - i think it's going to be good fun! it's not going to be all good times anbd classic hits though, i am expecting some tough questions and uncomfortable silences, but here's what i'm thinking - i will most likely come back creatively pumped, and i have 2 projects in the wings. i imagine that i will be in more of a place to make up my mind which one of these i will jump in to, as i will have no uni commitments, thus (in theory) more writing time. any trauma experienced while doing book promo, i can work into standup routines. and there's always duty free to look forward to... always duty free.
