though i thought my skipping, little-lunch eating, calico-bag toting days were waay over, i joined the local library not long ago. at my thrifty, eco-friendly husband's bidding, before we went away - probably due to the several unread books on my shelves at home that i bought because of their pretty covers, or because of some perceived urgent need at the time (cases in point - a few self help books, 'fire with fire', fiona horne's 'witch', and a copy of 'real beautiful'. i'm glad i didn't jump on the 'celestine prophecies' bandwagon). after having returned a couple of trashy novels, i thought i'd look for one i had yet to see in shops. so i did a detached search in the catalog for 'born confused' by tanuja desai hidier. and then it happened.
results popped up. one copy. on shelves. flemington.
i nearly wet myself.
hardcover. new book smell. no dog ears. all alone. waiting for me.
this book is genius. i'm not even half way through and already i'm worried about what i'll do with myself once it's finished. i'm divvy-ing my time between reading it and writing my own. not far to go now!
