excellent excellent. really enjoyed mwf last night. had chats with some very excellent people. making headway in novel. laptop is now virus-free. fingers are freezing off hands and can see my own breath when i exhale, and am sitting in my dining room. damn you lease terms that state fireplaces may not be used! damn you to the eternal flames, to the hot sizzling fire of hades. cannot wait to move to new place which has *three* fire places, the use of which are permitted and encouraged. i have already picked out my study. the kitchen floor there is sky blue. the bathtub there is claw footed. the floorboards there do not breathe cold air like these ones do.
i cannot wait.

here i am perched at the beginning of a particularly literary week. i need some writerly garb. maybe i'll add another pair of jeans to my wardrobe this weekend. i've been invited to a book launch at mwf on saturday, then there's mwf sessions on monday night, and the launch of cardie's 2nd anthology on thursday night.
i have finalised my travel arrangements for the nywf. i have never been to nywf before, and seeing as i am going alone and will most probably be staying at a backpackers, i'm looking forward to meeting a heap of people and coming back to melbourne creatively re-charged. i need some more of that stuff. gimme gimme some o' that some o' that in a bun.
found out yesterday that a freelancer friend of mine has incorporated a story i told her into an article which will appear in tomorrow's paper, in the a2 section. here's hoping i wake up in time to buy me a copy.
ps here's a link to the article that was in a2 - i'm quoted toward the end.

why am i here? not much to report, really. i have about an hour before i have to leave for uni, and i choose to spend it here, on the net, writing about nothing.
i think they have changed the flight paths. i am sure the planes were not this loud when we first moved here. oh well, we will soon trade these aircraft noises for the constant hum of the freeway. we've gone from living across the road from a train station to living underneath a flightpath, and are about to move to a house with a freeway/city view from its back balcony. all these moves were voluntary. trains, planes and automobiles. now that we have the trifecta, here's hoping we never have to move again.

i wonder how one gets a job as a tv reviewer. i just read sophie cunningham's secret tv diary, and have realised that i would like a parallel to that job - i could write a weekly column on crap tv, crap ads, and other things that crap me off which might pop into my mind while watching crap tv. crap crap crap. good theory. hmmm.
last night at the local went well. crowd was tough, but i managed to put a chink in their armour. am re-appearing at the local on sept 15. yay!

i changed my mind.
(pause)
i changed my mind i changed my mind i changed my mind! yeah! i changed my mind!
i am doing a re-write on my material for this evening. i will follow the advice i got from another comedian over the weekend to "stick with the indian stuff for as long as you can... cause if he were jewish (for example), he'd have shitloads of material but because he isn't, he has a hard time coming up with stuff."
oh. well. heart bleeds... really it does.
as a sign of sympathy at his not being of funnier, authentic ethnic stock, tonight i am going to go to town with the indian stuff, and drop the non-indian bit i had thought of going with earlier.
